Threadless’ New Spider-Man Collection is Villainously Good

Last year, Threadless ran a contest for people to design a Spider-Man based t-shirt to be judged by the folks at Marvel. While the Spider-Man they illustrated is not a Spider-Man that currently exists today, this week Threadless has released the winners of the contest that can now be purchased through their site for $23.50 a pop, and boy howdy are their some cool ones.

Of course, one thing that remains prevalent is that Spider-Man’s villains take the stage as much as he does (hence the pun in the article title), particularly Venom. It’s an interesting notion, to think that what makes a character is his foils, although Peter Parker is a character often discussed for his personality. It’s interesting to see how many artists focused on Spider-Man in combat for the contest, rather than Spider-Man by himself.

Never the less, these designs make for some fun shirts to wear. Here are a few of my favorites:

Elan Harris
Tom Burns
Morgan Satria
Dean Kotz
Budi Satria Kwan
Aled Lewis
AZRHON

You can check them all out for sale now on Threadless.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
