First he had the Punisher kill all the heroes after a not-zombie virus turned Marvel heroes into flesh-eating cannibal/monsters, transforming the Marvel U into a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Then he gave us an origin story as we saw the last days of the Marvel U through Wolverine’s eyes.
Now Jonathan Mayberry is back for a third installment in his dystopic superhero story with “Marvel Universe vs. The Avengers.” In news released on Marvel.com, the new entry to his story will be four issues illustrated by Leandro Fernandez, set for release in October (just in time for Halloween). The series follows Hawkeye, who will act as our eyes and ears in the new world as everything crumbles around him. As it turns out, Hawkeye has a heightened resistance to the plague that the rest of the heroes succumb to, and because of this we’re given a street level response to the end of the world (differing from the Punisher’s story, since that took place after the fact).
For more information on the upcoming story, feel free to check Marvel.com, and look for the release in October.
