DC Comics have announced “Tim Drake: Robin,” a new ongoing series starring the third Boy Wonder, written by Meghan Fitzmartin (“Batman: Urban Legends”), with art by Riley Rossmo (“Harley Quinn”). The series will see “a new villain who’s been hounding Tim from afar” deciding “to take things up close and personal,” putting Tim’s boyfriend Bernard Dowd, “and everyone else [he] cares about in peril. All that and Tim finally carves out a corner of Gotham City just for himself, and sets up shop in his very own… murder-shack-houseboat?”

The book continues Tim’s return to prominence, following a decade where he was largely sidelined and overshadowed by his successor Damian Wayne, and struggled to find a new identity after being superseded as Robin. The character previously headlined the first ongoing “Robin” comic book for 185 issues from 1993 to 2009, and then the “Red Robin” comic until 2011. Fitzmartin penned the character’s most recent solo adventures in “Batman: Urban Legends” and this month’s “DC Pride: Tim Drake Special,” which saw the character realize he was bisexual, and begin dating his old friend and former classmate Bernard.

“Tim Drake: Robin” #1 will be released on September 27, with main cover art by Ricardo López Ortiz, and variants depicting Tim through the years, namely a ‘One Year Later’ (2006) variant by Jorge Jimenez, a 1:25 ‘Debut Era’ (early 1990s) variant by Sweeney Boo, a 1:50 ‘Young Justice’ (late ’90s) variant by Dan Mora, and a 1:100 “Teen Titans” (early 2000s) variant by Jamal Campbell: you can check these out at Newsarama.
