As revealed in today’s solicits, “Avengers” #41 is coming, and it has a rather ordinary solicit to go with it, as you can see below:
AVENGERS #41
JONATHAN HICKMAN (W) • STEFANO CASELLI (A)
Cover by BRYAN HITCH
VARIANT COVER BY PHIL NOTO
IN 3 MONTHS…TIME RUNS OUT!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
Nothing too big there, right? Oh wait. The cover.
That, my friends, is the cover to “Avengers” #41. The final, final cover, as confirmed by CBR, and it also happens to be Bryan Hitch’s cover to 2002’s “Ultimates” #1, the smash hit book he and Mark Millar put together to launch the Avengers team in the Ultimate Universe.
Naturally, that’s a little confusing. Why are they reusing an old cover? Why that cover on the front of an Avengers book? What the hell is going on? That means theory time, my friends. We know “Secret Wars” is coming soon, and that it pairs all kinds of old events into a brand new Battleworld. We know that worlds are QUITE LITERALLY colliding thanks to the incessant “Incursions “that have been running throughout Hickman’s “New Avengers” run. We know that things are going to start breaking. Is this the first major crack of them all, finding Battleworld breaking through and the Ultimate universe taking the lead in this issue?
I’m not really sure. I’d wager significant sums of money that it is directly tied to all of that, but as to specifics, we’ll have to wait and find out. All I know is it’s getting pretty damn interesting, but damn, this is going to get confusing during bagging and boarding time. More on this in Soliciting Multiversity soon, and please, share your thoughts and theories in the comments.
