Let’s face it, American audiences are not very knowledgeable of Herge’s venerable Tintin comics, even if they are renowned amongst…well, the whole of the comic world. So when it was announced that there was a film going to be made, it was assured that they would need some serious star power behind it to make it fly in the US.

Thankfully, getting names like Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Edgar Wright, Stephen Moffat (Doctor Who) and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) to create the series for the screen is a pretty damn good way to start.

Today marked the release of a new full-length trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, and it is a thing of beauty. Filled with action, comedy and state-of-the-art motion capture animation, this adaptation gives Spielberg two incredibly high profile (and British) releases over five days in December (with the other being his adaptation of the brilliant play War Horse).

What are your thoughts on Tintin folks? Excited? Discouraged? Share your thoughts on the trailer in the comments.
