Announced earlier today, Titan Comics will be expanding their Doctor Who comic library even more (already including stories with 4, 8, 9-12). This time we will be seeing stories featuring the Third Doctor (played by the late and great Jon Pertwee) with great Who scribe Paul Cornell (writer of episodes “Father’s Day” and the “Human Nature/Family of Blood” 2-parter as well as comics like “Captain Britain,” “This Damned Band,” and the ever-underrated “Demon Knights”) with artwork by Christopher Jones (“Young Justice”).

The five-part mini-series, titled “The Heralds of Destruction” will see the Third Doctor and companion Jo Grant team up with UNIT to combat an alien threat after it crashes onto Earth, only to be embroiled in a far deeper mystery.

Pertwee played the Doctor across five series (seasons a we call them over in the colonies), and seemed to particularly enjoy the sartorial aspects of life, both as a dapper dresser, and as someone who relished dressing in disguise. Recently, he was listed as the ‘best’ Doctor on a list from the Telegraph, the third best on a list from WhatCulture, eight best according to Metro, and seventh best from the Observer.

“Doctor Who: The Third Doctor #1” will hit US and UK shops on August 31st.
