Today is Still the Best Day: Gravity Falls Finally Gets its Season 2 Premiere Date

It has been a long road to this moment, but we’re finally here: a full year after the finale of the first season, the second season of Gravity Falls will begin airing August 1st, 2014.

As confirmed by Alex Hirsch on Twitter:

But wait! There’s more!

Now, this is a bit spoiler-y for the first season, but fans will certainly recognize the second image as where Dipper found the original journal, Journal #3. Not only that, but I’m sure most fans will remember the curious incident of the finale, in which a certain great uncle revealed himself as more aware of the curious nature of the town, revealing himself as the owner of the first journal and, in possession of all three, using them with some kind of device — which is what the first image ostensibly refers to. Given the amount of time that this season has been in production, and the consistent mention that possession of the journals would allow the owner to access infinite worlds, I can only imagine what kind of mayhem season 2 will feature.

Of course, Alex Hirsch has coyly been tweeting about that as well, including this ominous image:

Which, a) is the last Twitter post we’ll embed and b) is pretty intriguing.

So this is all very exciting, to say the least.

Gravity Falls Season 2 premieres August 1st at 9:00 PM, and will most likely be available to you to watch when you get home from seeing Guardians of the Galaxy. For those of you who are entirely baffled about why we are so excitedly posting about the return of Gravity Falls, I would direct you to the following video:

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
