We all knew this was coming to a certain extent: Mark Millar writes a comic and someone has to direct it now, what with the success of Kick-Ass and Wanted. With American Jesus snatched up as well, we knew it’d only be days before Nemesis was snatched up before the comic was even finished. In fact, Mark Millar wrote about it in the back matter of the first issue.

Well, now Denzel Washington’s favorite guy Tony Scott will be directing the feature film adaptation of Nemesis, Mark Millar’s latest creator owned property. The story is about a hypothetical reverse-Batman archetype where the rich boy is the psychotic villain who hijacks Air Force One and has a car that turns into a motorcycle battling against a cop.

You might recognize Tony Scott’s name as one of two things: 1) Ridley Scott’s younger brother, or 2) the director of Crimson Tide , The Last Boy Scout, True Romance, Enemy of the State, and Man on Fire. Most recently he directed the remake of the Taking of Pelham 123. How he will deal with directing what is a pretty ridiculously over the top and outlandish comic should be interesting, but if it’s anything like the adaptations of Kick-Ass and Wanted, you can guess I probably won’t enjoy it.

Either way, be on the look out for more information as it is announced. Perhaps Brad Pitt will be playing the main character? Who knows!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
