This March it’s Skynet vs. Cybertron in the four-part mini-series “Transformers vs. The Terminator.” The collaboration between IDW Publishing and Dark Horse Comics will be written by David Mariotte (“Sonic the Hedgehog”), John Barber (“Spidey: School’s Out”) and Tom Waltz (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”), with art by Alex Milne (“Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye”).

Little details were given on the plot, although the announcement promises to revist “the concepts of alien invasion and time-traveling resistance fighters… but twists them in unexpected ways.” Both franchises have been in the public eye since 1984, meaning the crossover has been highly anticipated by fans for more than 35 years.

“I still remember the visceral thrill and terror of my first viewing of The Terminator, and while I’ve seen it a hundred times since then, it still gets my pulse running,” said Barber. “I’ve worked on ‘Transformers’ a lot over the years, and the opportunity to combine these two mechanistic universes together to see who comes out on top (while working alongside Tom, David and my old collaborator Alex, no less) — well, it’s way too exciting a chance to pass up.”

“Transformers vs. The Terminator” #1 releases March 2020 with four covers: a main cover by Gavin Fullerton, a second main cover by Alex Milne, a retail incentive cover by Freddie E. Williams II, and another retail incentive cover by Francesco Francavilla.

James Dowling

James Dowling is probably the last person on Earth who enjoyed the film Real Steel. He has other weird opinions about Hellboy, CHVRCHES, Squirrel Girl and the disappearance of Harold Holt. Follow him @James_Dow1ing on Twitter if you want to argue about Hugh Jackman's best film to date.
