There are only seven issues left of Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt’s “The Sixth Gun” before it comes to an end, but that’s not exactly all there is. Last year we got the miniseries “Sons of the Gun,” this year we got “Days of the Dead,” and next year we’ll get “Dust to Dust,” kicking off March 4 with art by Tyler Crook. Crook’s already had experience in the Sixth Gun world, having handled the art for three one-shot issues in the main run, drawing stories for Asher Cobb, Kirby Hale, and most recently Griselda, the Grey Witch.

“Dust to Dust” will feature Cullen Bunn’s favourite character, Billjohn O’Henry, who bit the dust all the way back in the first arc. He’s continued to hang around, though it’s going to be fun to have a story where he’s alive again. Bunn himself is excited about the series too, saying that tonally it’s a very different kind of story.

And after that? Well, while the main series will have come to an end, both Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt still want to tell stories in the Sixth Gun world. Make no mistake, the series will end with its fiftieth issue, but there are all manner of flashbacks and side characters with stories waiting to be told. Sounds good to me!
