While many fans out there desperately hoped that Sony’s relaunch of the Spider-Man franchise would be guided by Brian Michael Bendis’ Ultimate Spider-Man comic, it appears we have something else to hang our hats on if that doesn’t happen: a USM animated series.
Slated to debut in the fall of 2011, this show will air on Disney XD. This just furthers the speculation that Disney planned on using their purchase of Marvel to further cultivate their Disney XD channel, as this will likely be the third project brought over from the House of Ideas for that network.
While likely aimed at children, one can guarantee most of us at MC will also tune in, along with legions of other fans. Here’s hoping they successfully capture the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends feel from the title recently. I’m really loving that and I think it’s about time we had a show like that again.
