SPOILER WARNING: This is a huge spoiler for the upcoming stuff in Uncanny X-Men and, in all honesty, I don’t know why Marvel announced this. But they did. And I watched it. I took the bullet for you guys. So if you don’t want to know anything about the upcoming arc “THE RETURN” (starting in March 2010), don’t watch the video.
For everyone else, enjoy.
Thoughts after the jump
Part of me is thrilled. The rest of me is very disappointed in Marvel. Ok, let’s be honest – this could have been an amazing final page. A mysterious signal, a group shot of everyone, and a final quote: “It’s Kitty. She’s coming back.” Something like that. It doesn’t have to be that exactly, but you know what I mean. Instead, Marvel chose to announce it and leave it to us to wonder how in the upcoming months. Is that entirely fair to us as the reader? Part of the joy of reading is the mystery that we don’t know what’s coming next.
But that’s just me. Maybe you wanted to know.
Either way, I’m excited to have Kitty come back, and I’m excited to have it be during such a great run of Uncanny X-Men. I’m very curious as to how they’re going to spin this one, to be honest. Has the bullet already made one pass through the entirety of the universe? I sort of feel like this is the kind of story that should be in SWORD, and it’s the kind of story that could really help push that book up in sales. Lord knows it deserves more readers than it’s getting.
