With the release of the March solicits from DC, new information has come to light in regards to many of their titles, including that of fan favorite THUNDER Agents.
Written by Nick Spencer and illustrated by Wes Craig, the second volume of THUNDER Agents was solicited with the information that a new guest artist would join every issue. We were patiently waiting for the announcement of the final two guest artists, but now we know — with March’s penultimate issue, artist Mike Choi will join to contribute a sequence to the book. We’re not entirely sure what the sequence will entail, but it is assumed that it is in relation to the Subteranean war that began in the first issue.
In addition to the interior guest artist, each cover is done by a different artist as well, with this issue’s cover by Kenneth Rocafort (Red Hood and the Outlaws).
Not only that, butriter Michael Uslan will join the book for a back-up story to run between this issue and the next, “starring the all-new Undersea Agent on a deadly solo mission.” The solicit doesn’t make it clear who in fact is illustrating the back-up, but we can probably assume that it is Wes Craig.
As a note, the back-up story does push the page count of the issue to 40, meaning that the book now costs $3.99 instead of $2.99.
We’re not entirely sure why a back-up is being introduced to bring in a new character, but it could be safe to assume that DC (if not Spencer) may not be done with telling stories starring the THUNDER Agents. If not for that purpose, why introduce a back-up and increase the price of the book? After all, the title has bounced between various publishers before finally coming into DC’s hands, and the previous volume was highly critically acclaimed. It’d be a shame not to do anything with them.
