Valiant Entertainment is set to launch four brand new limited series beginning in March 2019 under the banner ‘Breakthrough.’ New Valiant Senior Editorial Director Robert Meyers stated in an interview that all of the stories set the stage for “a full year of exciting announcements.” He went on to tell SYFY Wire:

These are extraordinary stories told by master storytellers, featuring comics’ most compelling villain, Toyo Harada; the main stage debut of Punk Mambo; the evolution of the future; and perhaps the scariest assembly of superspies the Valiant Universe has ever seen. I can’t wait to reveal what else is in store for 2019!

The first of these titles, launching in March, is “The Life and Death of Toyo Harada” which was announced back in February of this year. That six-issue series is written by Joshua Dysart (“Harbinger”), with a rotating list of artists including CAFU, Mico Suayan, Lewis LaRose and Adam Pollina. The other three books announced under the ‘Breakthrough’ banner are five-issue miniseries, details of which can be found below:

“Punk Mambo”
Written by Cullen Bunn (“X-Men: Blue,” “Harrow County”)
Art by Adam Gorham (“Rocket,” “Black Panther”)
Promo Art by Cris Delara

This book sees “Dark magic, the UK punk scene and the Valiant superhero universe converge” in the British voodoo priestess’s first ongoing series. Created in 2014 by Peter Milligan and Robert Gill, the character has shown up in “Ninjak,” the miniseries event “Rapture,” and most recently “Ninja-K.” This marks Bunn’s debut at Valiant, while Gorham previously illustrated the “Dead Drop” miniseries and has done cover work for the company. “Punk Mambo” #1 hits shelves in April.

“Fallen World”
Written by Dan Abnett (“Aquaman,” “Guardians of the Galaxy”)
Art by Adam Pollina (“X-Force”)
Promo Art by AJ Jothikumar

“Fallen World” continues Matt Kindt, Clayton Crain, and others’ work in the 4001 AD line on titles like “Rai,” and the event “4001 AD.” The series is set to star Rai in 4002 AD and “draw readers into a captivating cyberpunk future with the fate of humanity under siege.” This marks Abnett’s debut at Valiant, and is Pollina’s first series with the company after drawing “Secret Weapons” #0. “Fallen World” #1 will be in stores in May.

“Killers”
Written by B. Clay Moore (“Hawaiian Dick”)
Art by Fernando Dagnino (“Suicide Squad,” “Justice League: Generation Lost”)
Promo Art by Grey Williamson

“Killers” is looking to continue the story from the recently concluded “Ninja-K” from Christos Gage, Juan Jose Ryp and others, and is set to feature “a contest between the deadliest superspies on the planet as they compete for the ultimate prize.” This is Moore’s second miniseries at Valiant after working on “Savage,” and is Dagnino’s debut with the company. “Killers” #1 will kick-off the series in July.

All of these announcements follow on the heels of the recent departure of Joe Illidge as Executive Editor earlier this week, with Meyers stepping in to fill that role. Illidge spearheaded the ‘Valiant Beyond’ banner which will conclude with the launch of “Incursion” #1 in February ahead of ‘Breakthrough’ beginning in March.
