Every year we are given quite a few conventions to celebrate the medium with, and at most of the bigger shows we now get various exclusives. Whether it’s the sheer spending money overload at SDCC with lines and tickets, the quiet dignity and grave of ECCC’s various show exclusives or that strange middle-ground that is NYCC, convention exclusives are here to stay, part of the game and some of the fun. Capping off our morning of NYCC Exclusive looks, we’re pointing our lens at everyone’s favorite valiant comic publisher, Valiant.
While Valiant isn’t bringing a lot this year, what they are bringing is specially catered for fans of “X-O Manowar,” one of their biggest characters (and, in fact, the character that helped rebirth the current version of the Valiant universe). As such, Valiant is bringing two X-O Manowar exclusives to NYCC: a NYCC-exclusive variant of “X-O Manowar” #0 by Mike Walsh and an Urban Vinyl Figure from CKRTLAB Toys that promises to be the first of many from Valiant. X-O Manowar is a great sci-fi character, and the recent “Armor Hunters” crossover circling around him was a ton of fun, so with a #0 issue to jump into (telling his origin story in the new Valiant U) and a toy, this works out quite well for everyone.

Additionally, Valiant will also have a first look preview of their upcoming series “The Valiant” from Jeff Lemire, Matt Kindt and Paolo Rivera, and from what I’ve seen of it that’s a can’t miss grab.
