Just announced at USA Today (and Fred Van Lente’s Twitter feed) was a “Captain America: The First Avenger” prequel comic series (titled “Captain America: First Vengeance”) that will have its first issue released for free on Super Bowl Sunday at captainamerica.com (and then release Feb. 8 on iTunes powered devices). This series will be eight issues long, leading into the release of the film with one-off issues that develop the characters to where they stand at the beginning of the movie.
It will be written by Van Lente and illustrated by a rotating list of artists, including upcoming “Hercules” artist Neil Edwards and former “Captain America” artist Luke Ross.
