Via CBR, Vault Comics have announced several “Barbaric” titles, including volumes three and four of Michael Moreci and Nathan Gooden’s fantasy comedy series, a spin-off miniseries, and a one-shot.

The “Year of the Axe” will kick off in January with the third story arc, “Barbaric: Hell to Pay,” which sees Soren — now wielding the cursed Axe — trying to get Owen the barbarian out of the underworld. Trouble is, Owen might find Hell to not “be such a terrible place after all!” December 2023 will then see the start of “Barbaric: Born in Blood,” in which Owen and Soren will “go on a quest to find the monster that can supposedly explain Owen’s curse — but he’ll have to travel through barbarian lands to get there!”

In the meantime, May will mark the launch of “Queen of Swords: A Barbaric Series,” penciled by Corin Howell, which follows Ka, the wielder of Ganelon (“which is now infused with the wretched spirit of Ga’Bar”) and Serra as they set off to “obtain a magical relic that’ll help kill the evil orc Gladius. But can Serra be trusted? And will Ga’Bar ever stop talking sh*t?”

September 2023 will see the release of the one-shot, “The Wrong Kind of Righteous,” co-written by Kings of the Wyld author Nicholas Eames. It will depict an adventure from Owen’s and Axe’s past, namely “the time they ran into another sentient weapon, a mace named Flail! But Flail is not at all what you’d expect of a talking weapon, nor is the psychotic paladin who wields him!” Vault’s timeline graphic also teases two more announcements to come for July and October 2023.

Launched in 2021, “Barbaric” has already received one spin-off one-shot earlier, Moreci and Robert Wilson IV’s “The Harvest Blades,” which was released this summer. The first two volumes of the main series, “Murderable Offenses” and “Axe to Grind,” will also be released in trade paperback this January.
