At Newsarama, Vault Comics have announced “Wasted Space,” a limited science fiction comic book series written by Michael Moreci (“The Flash,” the upcoming “Dick Tracy”) and penciled by Hayden Sherman (Image Comics’s “The Few”). Also collaborating on the title are letterer Jim Campbell and colorist Jason Wordie.

Tonally described by Vault as a cross between Philip K. Dick (Blade Runner, Total Recall) and “Preacher,” “Wasted Space” follows Billy Bane, a false prophet whose misbehavior as a youth caused widespread havoc in the galaxy. Now he wants to waste away, forgotten in the remote corners of space, with his best friend Dust, a “supercharged Fuq bot.” However, when a new false prophet causing chaos emerges, Billy is summoned to stop them, much to his apathy.

Prior to Vault’s announcement, Moreci had been teasing “Wasted Space” on Twitter late last year, proclaiming “it might be the weirdest s**t of 2018, but it’s going to be a helluva ride,” and teasing an imposing character known as the Maker. He also explained the book would resemble Philip K. Dick’s work as it would be “trippy and weird,” and “profane” like “Preacher.”

The first issue of “Wasted Space” is out in April. The series will be accompanied with variant covers by Marguerite Sauvage (“Jean Grey”).
