Marvel Comics have announced writers Al Ewing and Ram V, will be relaunching the “Venom” series this November, alongside artist Bryan Hitch, inker Andrew Currie, and colorist Alex Sinclair. Little was said about the direction the series will take the character in, other than that Ewing will be “bringing the same style and sensibilities that made ‘Immortal Hulk’ a smash hit. Ewing and award-winning author Ram V, a titan of terror in his own right, will work together to lend a dramatic and dangerous air to this twisted new vision of Venom!”
Ram V said, “When my editors at Marvel reached out about taking on Venom alongside Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch, I was not prepared for the kind of creative thrill it has been ever since. This story is going to expand and push the symbiote narrative and lore in even more unexpected and fantastic directions. It is also an utter thrill having the sort of call and response mechanic I’ve had with a writer like Al and an artist of Bryan’s caliber. Fans and new readers, strap in — you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”

Ram V, who is currently writing “The Swamp Thing” for DC, has penned various stories for Marvel, including the miniseries “Empyre: Thor,” which was canceled after the Diamond shutdown at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This will mark his first ongoing Marvel series. Ewing currently writes “Immortal Hulk,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and “S.W.O.R.D,” though “Immortal Hulk” will have ended by the time “Venom” relaunches; he has also penned a “Defenders” miniseries for the fall.
The new “Venom” #1 will release in November, several months after the conclusion of Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman’s three-year run (which culminated in the ‘King in Black’ crossover) in “Venom” #200, out in comic book stores on June 16.
Fans will be able to get a taste of the new era beforehand, in this summer’s Free Comic Book Day title, “Free Comic Book Day: Spider-Man/Venom” #1, due out August 14; they’ll also be able to see their hero in action in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, out September 24.
