Vertigo To Release New Quarterly Series “Vertigo Quarterly: CMYK” – An Anthology Based On Color

You know what doesn’t get talked about enough in comics? Color. Color is one of the most important parts of comics (even in those without color) in creating and conveying the mood and feel and atmosphere of the story. Not only that, but getting the right color artist teamed with the right penciller and inker team can make or break a comic. Which is why it’s so cool to see Vertigo celebrate this unappreciated aspect of comics. Announced exclusively over at Nerdist, Vertigo will be releasing a quarterly anthology book all this year titled “CMYK” (get it? oh, printer jokes) with each issue having its stories tailored around each specific story.

First off, in Spring, we’re getting Cyan and then it will be followed in Summer by Magenta with Yellow in Fall and Black in Winter. While there are no concrete release dates or price points set so far, the fact that the talent roster includes Jock, Fabio Moon, James Tynion IV, Martin Morazzo, Robert Rodi and Javier Fernandez, Amy Chu, Joe Keatinge, Cris Peter, Shaun Simon and Tony Akin more than makes up for it. What would be very interesting, though, would be seeing if Vertigo could keep this up as a yearly thing with different themes each year.

Regardless, you should definitely check out Nerdist for more information on “Vertigo Quarterly: CMYK” because this sounds pretty dang cool already.
