Via The Hollywood Reporter, Vault Comics have announced “I Walk With Monsters,” a new horror series by writer Paul Cornell (“Saucer State,” Doctor Who), artist Sally Cantirino (“Last Song,” “Dead Beats”), and colorist Dearbhla Kelly (“Paradiso,” “Queen of Bad Dreams”), which debuts in November.
The comic book will tell the story of Jacey, a woman haunted by the loss of her brother, who was taken from her years ago by “the Important Man.” She lives with David, a man who occasionally transforms into a terrifying monster, with whom she’s “found a way to live to hunt, sniffing out men who prey on the vulnerable” — and now they must face the return of the Important Man.
The publisher briefly described the series as a tale of “cycles of abuse and anger,” and said it is an intensely personal project for Cornell and Cantirino. It marks Cornell’s first comic book series since “Saucer State” at IDW Publishing in 2017, although he has contributed anthology stories to AHOY Comics in the meantime. On Twitter, Cornell called the book a “heartfelt, dark horror story about one young woman and her friend the monster going hunting.”
“I Walk With Monsters” #1 releases digitally and in comic book stores on November 11. It will be the second title from Vault’s Halloween imprint Nightfall for 2020, following “The Autumnal.”
