Walsh and Kot are “Frenemies” at Marvel, Not “Enemends”

Marvel doesn’t have a clique problem in their universe, but you have to watch out for frenemies. Frenmies are enemies who act like friends; we call them frenemies. Or enemends. Or friends who secretly hate you, we call them fraitors.

And at this year’s Avengers panel, Marvel will be announcing a new book from Michael Walsh and Ales Kot with a teaser of “Frenemies”, the team that brought you the FANTASTIC “Zero” #1 last month from Image Comics.

This probably isn’t a Mean Girls comic in the Marvel Universe, but here’s hoping.

My more legitimate speculation would be that this is a teen book. With unsubstantiated rumors that “Young Avengers” is coming to a close in some form or fashion, a book referenced as Frenemies (so closely associated with that hilarious Tina Fey-written teen movie from Pre-Meltdown Lindsay Lohan days) seems likely. But, really, it could be anything and we’d buy it.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
