Comics publisher Dynamite Entertainment has announced two new series to be released this year: a John Carter/”Mars Attacks” crossover and a Red Sonja origin story.
The first of which, “Warlord of Mars Attacks” will be written by Jeff Parker (“James Bond Origin”) and illustrated by Dean Kotz (“Dungeons and Dragons”). The story takes place when a disturbance on the surface of Mars leads to a brutal invasion on behalf of the big-headed sadistic aliens. Covers for the series will be provided by Dave Johnson (“Batman”), Marco D’Alfonso (“I Am Groot”), Ramon Villalobos (“America”), and Ben Caldwell (“Red Sonja”)
“Warlord of Mars Attacks” #1 is slated for release in June of this year.
The second series, “Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil,” will be written by Luke Lieberman (“Red Sonja: Doom of the Gods”) and illustrated by Sergio Davila (“Project Superpowers”). The six-issue series will see the titular heroine as she was in her early years as she is “figuring out what kind of woman she wants to be,” according to Lieberman. Each issue will feature covers by Sergio Davila, Lucio Parillo (“Queen Sonja,”) and cosplayer Shannon Kingston.
“Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil” #1 is also slated for release this June.
