Announced in the introduction of today’s episode, “The Auction,” it looks like the wonderful and life-consuming podcast Welcome to Night Vale is getting its own novel to be published in 2015 by Harper Collins. While no details were released during Joseph Fink’s announcement, it was mentioned that the book would explore areas of the town that the radio show was unable to uncover, although he did not specify which ones or what form the narrative would take.
For those unaware, Welcome to Night Vale is a podcast that acts as a community radio broadcast hosted by Cecil Baldwin in the little town of Night Vale, where the normal is strange and the strange is normal. Faceless old women live in the cracks of your walls, you can not enter the dog park and there is a dragon with multiple-heads running for mayor. It’s a very entertaining podcast, and listening to it calms to the spiders that run along your brain and bite you periodically throughout the day.
While the book is still a ways away, it is exciting regardless to hear that Night Vale will begin expanding and that StrexCorp Synernists Incorporated is just one step closer to enriching all of our lives with their wonderful steel-toed boots pressed lovingly against our throats. I for one welcome our new corporate overlords.
