We’ve run a couple articles like this now, but this is the most interesting yet (to me, anyway).
Brian Wood, one of the best writers in comics right now, has been tumbling a bit more than usual lately. He announced earlier today that come 2011 he will be working on company-owned characters, as opposed to being the strictly creator-owned creator a lot of us have come to know him for (aside from that X-Dabble that one time with Warren Ellis). Wood stated in his post that now that he is living comfortably and DMZ is coming to a close, he will be taking on different forms of work for a while that will be announced “between now and in the next couple months.” He seems to be slightly implying that he may or may not be working on one of DC’s post-Flashpoint books, though anything is possible. He also added that one of the projects that was planned is no longer happening, and this is in addition to the future DV8 plans we will never see, the Wildstorm that never was, and a Rima the Jungle Girl book that is also not happening.
Here’s the big kicker though: Wood adds at the end of the post he is no longer a DC Exclusive. That’s a big deal. And by big deal, I mean big deal. So perhaps something post-Flashpoint is not what we should be looking for, but maybe – just maybe – post-Fear Itself? Or, given past projects, post-Schism?
There are still plans for creator owned work with supposedly 2 projects being announced before years end, but either way you can count on Multiversity updating you when we know more (and you can count on at least me pre-ordering whatever is coming up).
