Yesterday, Marvel held a press release for the upcoming Moon Knight series by Bendis and Maleev. Among a lot of information about the title (including the above image of Moon Knight, courtesy of Maleev’s interiors!), the following information was revealed:
Viscardi says that Moon Knight isn’t the only classic character getting his own series. Brevoort adds that Moon Knight is “one of three books” that are not the same thing, “but all have a similarity in terms of the kind of character it is, the tone, the style, the approach.”
Brevoort says the books are going to be “all a-list creative teams,” and they’re tentatively being bannered as “Big Shots.”
Moon Knight is the first in May, the second in June, the third in July.
“I think people will go – ah, that’s what they’re talking about, it all makes sense, I see the pattern,” Brevoort said.
Brevoort said that most people paying close attention will be able to put a “pretty good wager” on who the characters are, since they’re not that obscure.
Hmm. Interesting. Moon Knight was announced at New York Comic Con, but no other big titles or characters were announced, which makes one think that this has to do with what’s currently going on at Marvel. The first thing that comes to mind in regards to the Moon Knight connection is the recent changes with Secret Avengers, the title where Moon Knight currently resides. With Nick Spencer promising a change in the team line-up with issue 12.1. So… if Moon Knight is leaving… who else might be leaving that’s a “classic” character?
Someone like… Ant-Man maybe? Perhaps a Tim Seeley ongoing?
Leave us your thoughts on who might be getting an ongoing in the comment section!
