“Rat Queens” fans, I know you’re a passionate lot – and you should be, because the book frankly kicks ass – but now you have something extra to be excited about: Kurtis Wiebe and Roc Upchurch’s Image Comics hit is becoming an animated TV series thanks to Heavy Metal and Weta Workshop’s Pukeko Pictures.

The series, which follows four foul-mouthed, tough as nails maidens who kick ass and take names (mostly the former), is a great fit for the concept of an animated TV show, and with talented and creatively aligned teams like Pukeko and Heavy Metal involved, one has to feel pretty good about the prospects of this endeavor.

This is Wiebe’s second project in development, as BBC Worldwide is adapting “Peter Panzerfaust” for TV as well, and it’s a well deserved deal for two very talented creators. More on this as it arrives, assuredly, and congrats to Kurtis and Roc. Very cool news.
