Announced during the last day of SDCC, Marvel is putting out a new “Amazing X-Men,” from the creative team of Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness. Launching in November, the book will featuring Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Iceman, Northstar and Firestar traveling into Hell to rescue Nightcrawler from the demon Azazel, who is known to most as Nightcrawler’s father (and a character with no dialogue in a movie that one time).
This books existence is also a good argument for both Wolverine dying in October and not dying in October. On the one hand, dying would be a good reason to go to Hell; might as well find that blue elf while there, right? On the other hand — well, didn’t Aaron already write the “Wolverine in Hell” story? Oh. Right.
I’ll say: Jason Aaron wrote my favorite Nightcrawler tribute issue after Nightcrawler died in “Second Coming.” It was the final issue of “Weapon X”, right before the relaunch to just adjectiveless “Wolverine.” It was a moving little issue, one that proved that Aaron really got the complicated relationship between Logan and Kurt, and as much as you kind of have to groan at another character that died heroically being brought back to life, at least you can be assured it will be a good ride.
