From The Hollywood Reporter, James Tynion IV and Michael Dialynas, co-creators of the BOOM! Studios series “The Woods,” are reuniting for “Wynd,” a trilogy of young adult-oriented graphic novels. The first installment of the high fantasy story, “Wynd Book One: The Flight of the Prince,” is written by Tynion, drawn and colored by Dialynas with letters by Aditya Bidikar, and will be published by BOOM! Studios for a November release date.
“Wynd” is a coming of age story that follows the titular character as he wrestles with his place in the world as a magic user. The high fantasy adventure will explore Wynd’s magical origins as it transforms him along with his budding romance for the groundkeeper’s son. Wynd will be joined by his best friend, Oakley, and they will set off for adventures, and discover new worlds, while developing an understanding of themselves.
For Tynion, “Wynd” is the “ur-story that every story I’ve told since comes from in one way or another.” Tynion says that “Wynd” began as a name he wrote down in a binder as a 16-year old, that morphed into different tales, and a world that he built for himself when reality seemed “too harsh and strange.” He adds that “Wynd” is a “story about growing up. In a lot of ways, it’s a story about me. And I’ve been waiting half my life to tell it.
Dialynas’s reunion with Tynion has been exciting for the comic book artist: “Creating ‘Wynd’s’ world has been a delight, and it has all of my favorite things to draw in it. I really can’t wait for you all to join me and James on this new exciting adventure!”
