“X-Men ’92” From Marvel Co-Written by Man Who Once Slept With a Beta-Ray Bill Action Figure

While there have been a slew of “Secret Wars” announcements that have gotten us excited, for personal reasons, Multiversity is most excited about this one. In May, “X-Men ’92” launches from the House of Ideas, first digitally, and then in print in June. That’s fun, but this is more fun:

Multiversity alum Chad Bowers is co-writing the Marvel Infinite series, and we sincerely couldn’t be prouder of him. The title of this post refers to New York Comic Con 2012, where Chad bought an awesome Beta Ray Bill action figure and took a nap with it still in his hands. It was as endearing and adorable as you’d expect it to be.

Chad, along with his co-writer Chris Sims, has forged a nice side career for himself as a writer, from ONI’s “Down Set Fight” original graphic novel illustrated by Scott Kowalchuk, to the MoneyBrain series “Subatomic Party Girls,” drawn by Erica Henderson, to the upcoming back-up feature in next month’s “Bill and Ted’s Triumphant Return” #2. His work is characterized by genuinely funny humor, an incredibly nuanced understanding of comics storytelling, and more heart than you can shake a stick at.

In case you can’t tell, we are incredibly proud of, and excited for, our friend. This is the best type of article that could appear on Multiversity. If you want to see why we love Chad so much, check out The Hour Cosmic, the podcast he co-hosted with myself and Matt Meylikhov for over 100 episodes. You’ll fall in love with his Southern charm and great catchphrases, like “Oh, snakes!”

The solicit appears below, and make sure to look out for a chat with Chad about the book in the near future.

Congratulations again, buddy. Hit him up on Twitter to beg him to include Morph in the series.
