Via The New York Times, Dark Horse have announced “You Look Like Death,” a six-issue “Tales from the Umbrella Academy” spin-off starting in June. Written by Gerard Way and Shaun Simon with art by I.N.J. Culbard, the spin-off will follow the misadventures of Klaus Hargreeves (the alcoholic, drug-addicted member of the family who can hear the voices of the dead) in Hollywood, a decade before the events of the original series.

Way told the Times, “I imagined a pretty wild decade for Klaus — full of ups and downs, seedy places, supernatural excursions and internal battles.” This will be the first “Umbrella Academy” comic written with Shaun Simon, who created “The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” with Way and Becky Cloonan in 2013. It is also the second spin-off comic bearing the ‘Tales from the Umbrella Academy’ branding, following last December’s one-shot “Hazel and Cha Cha Save Christmas.”

“You Look Like Death: Tales from the Umbrella Academy” #1 will be released sometime in June. A second season of the TV adaptation, featuring Robert Sheehan as Klaus, will also be released on Netflix sometime later this year: the streaming service began teasing the show’s return earlier this week, indicating it will arrive sooner than the comic.
