In a bit of unprecedented news, it looks like Young Allies has been put on the chopping block by the folks over at Marvel and will end with the sixth issue in November. The first Bastards of Evil arc had just ended up, and it was time for Emma Frost to come in for a cameo, followed by a Steve Rogers cameo in issue 7. However, as spotted over at Comics Alliance, some Diamond product changes came out today noting that the seventh issue is just not happening.

However, as CA noted, when contacted for comment, Marvel said the series was merely on hiatus… so what’s going on with Young Allies?

Marvel has been ending books quicker that haven’t performed well in sales (see: Doctor Vood, SWORD), which can be too bad sometimes and other times most people just shrug. McKeever did have both a Young Allies crossover planned Avengers Academy and Spider-Girl (via their annuals), and he’s also going to be writing the new Onslaught story (as announced at NYCC), and Onslaught has an obvious relationship with the Heroes Reborn-verse from which Nomad comes from. The back-ups in Captain America will also continue for the time being. So the general fate of the young heroes is unknown.

We’ll keep you posted as we find out more.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
