DC announced the details today of what their ‘Young Animal’ imprint will look like after the ‘Milk Wars’ event, which sees the titles cross over with the DC Universe, early next year. The Gerard Way curated pop-up imprint is undergoing what they are calling ‘The Remix,’ and will return with new #1s and variations on many of its titles.
First off, the Cecil Castellucci and Marley Zarcone series “Shade, The Changing Girl” will receive a name change to “Shade, The Changing Woman.” The new series begins as “Loma, now free of the burdens of her past life, sets out to see more of her new home. But how will she cope when the madness she was forced to confront in the Milk Wars is now a mass of memory and confusion? To make things even more challenging, she’ll come face to face with the original Changing Man.” “Shade, The Changing Woman” debuts March 7th as well.
Next up Cave Carson is getting a new title dubbed “Cave Carson Has An Interstellar Eye.” The series will return on March 21st from the same team of Jon Rivera and Michael Avon Oeming as Cave and his daughter Chloe “are sucked into an all-new adventure—literally—when they go spelunking in a black hole!”
Finally, the adventures of Mother Panic will continue in “Mother Panic: Gotham A.D.” set ten years in the future in a world without Batman. Gotham City is now under the hands of an entity known as the Collective, as Violet Page continues her one-Woman vengeance crusade. This new series returns on March 28th from Jody Houser and original artist Tommy Lee Edwards and new artist Ibrahim Moustafa (“Savage Things,” “Doctor Fate”).
The previously announced “Eternity Girl” six- issue miniseries from Magdalene Visaggio and Sonny Liew will also debut March 7th alongside these other titles. The series follows Urania Blackwell, a former CIA agent who can’t die. Her only solution? Destroy the universe first. This series spins off from a back-up in one of the ‘Milk Wars’ crossover.
No details were given on “Doom Patrol,” which has dealt with multiple delays, but it is assumed that series from Gerard Way and Nick Derrington will continue.
‘Milk Wars’ kicks off January 31st with “JLA/Doom Patrol Special #1” from Way, Steve Orlando, and ACO and continues through February before all these series launch in March.

Following the events of the DC/Young Animal crossover event “Milk Wars” this winter, the main titles of the DC’s Young Animal line will get a mix-up of their own, with new series titles and story directions. The pop-up imprint, curated by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, continues to set the bar for innovation in comics, using the five-part event beginning January 31 to send each title back to #1, with strange and crazy new stories.
“Young Animal is back to bringing the weird, with all your favorite characters going in drastically new directions not even they could expect,” says Way. “Find out what these characters are up to now, and how they’ve hit their next level of evolution.”
Beginning March 7, Shade has shed her alien identity, stepping out of her original Earth body into a new one. Launching from the backup story in “Milk Wars” is ETERNITY GIRL, a new miniseries from GLAAD Award-nominated writer Magdalene Visaggio (Kim & Kim) and Eisner Award-winning artist Sonny Liew (The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye). The series follows the tragedy of Caroline Sharp, a former superhero and super-spy whose cursed powers have left her hideously deformed and unable to die! Her only solution? Destroy the universe. This new series begins March 7.
The “Milk Wars” event kicks off in JLA/DOOM PATROL SPECIAL #1 on January 31. The epically weird crossover adventure featuring characters from the JLA and DC’s Young Animal will continue throughout February.
