DC announced today that coming soon will be a brand new Young Justice television series! Assumedly based on that book by Peter David with updated costumes by Geoff Johns, the animated series comes at a great time for DC. With Geoff Johns in his new position, it only makes sense that he would usher in something like this, it only makes sense he’d be revisiting the Teen Titans/Young Justice.
YOUNG JUSTICE is an all-new series produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based upon the characters from DC Comics. In YOUNG JUSTICE, being a teenager means proving yourself over and over — to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you’re not just a normal teenager? What if you’re a teenage super hero? How much harder will it be to prove yourself in a world of super powers, super villains and super secrets? Are you ready to come of age in such a world? Are you ready for life or death rites of passage? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you’re worthy of the Justice League? The members of Young Justice–Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis–are about to find out.
We do of course notice that Aqualad and Artemis are different than the rest. Aqualad is black as opposed to the white Aqualad we’re used to, and Artemis looks to be replacing Arrowette, which is fine. DC did have a massively popular similar animated series called Teen Titans. Since then they haven’t been able to have a TV show that is as universally enjoyed by all audiences, despite their bold attempt with the new Batman cartoon.
Never the less, be on the look out for more news as we get it, as well as reviews when the show begins airing.
