That’s what it looks like folks – Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog is reporting that the director of 300, Watchmen, and the recent Legend of the Guardians, Zack Snyder, is Christopher Nolan’s choice to direct the new Superman film that will be guided by the caring hand of the auteur of The Dark Knight and Inception.
Evidently the contract is being negotiated right now, but it is looking quite likely that Snyder is our man (beating out other competitors like Darren Aronofsky, Ben Affleck, Matt Reeves and Tony Scott). We’ll get you more as everything is finalized, but all that has been confirmed to date is that Snyder will render the entire film in slow motion.
Just kidding. You probably believed me though, didn’t you?
UPDATE: Deadline has now spoken to and confirmed that Snyder will indeed be the director:
“I’ve been a big fan of the character for a long time, he’s definitely the king of all superheroes, he’s the one,” Snyder told Deadline. “It’s early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I’ve always felt he was kind of awesome. I’ll finish Sucker Punch and get right at it.”
It was also rumored that Matthew Goode would play the Man of Steel, but when reached for comment he said, “I did that 35 minutes ago.”
