In what might be the most exciting news of this weekend, it seems that Zack Whedon is in fact the man bringing Serenity back to Dark Horse. Revealed over at Nerdist, Whedon will be brining the crew back in a big way with the “Serenity: Leaves On The Wind” series. Now, you may remember that Georges Jeanty of “Buffy The Vampire” Seasons Eight and Nine had been announced as the artist of a new “Serenity” series a while back.

This series will be a miniseries lasting six issues, starting in January of next year, and will take a look at the fallout from the events of Serenity the movie. This means, unfortunately, that Zack Whedon confirmed that the hijinks that defined the series with it’s humour may not play as much a part in this series. It seems to be playing it pretty darker than the series did in the wake of the events of the film which, indeed, got pretty dark.

Either way, any “Serenity” is good “Serenity” and I’m definitely excited to see where this goes and if we’ll continue to see more new series after its conclusion. Remember to be sure to check out Nerdist for a much more extensive look at the series including an interview with Zakc Whedon himself.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
