Welcome Back to Mine Multiversity: A Marvel Podcast! Each episode we’ll be looking at Marvel books, old and new! We discuss fun Marvel comics, Marvel news, Marvel history, and for the foreseeable future, everything to do with The Eternals
Make Mine Multiversity is a twice-monthly podcast that premieres on the first and third Friday of every month. That’s about as often as Jack Kirby thinks NYC gets invaded by little green men!
Our gargantuan book club series rolls on! This week, we finish up Jack Kirby’s Eternals series, which means “Eternals” issue #11-19, plus the first annual. There’s a lot that’s the same in this installment, but we also see some first appearances, and some disappointing villains. Which doesn’t include the Deviants, who are not villains, but the secret protagonist of Eternals comics. Join us to hear all about it!
Will the Eternals ever move past their smugness? Will the Celestials ever make sense? Is this a story too wrapped up in 70s racism? Will Jaina and Elias ever remember the name of Dr. Damien’s daughter? All that and more in episode 101.
And next time we are still making our way through the history of these jerk superheroes who can never die. The Eternals next show their perfectly symmetrical faces in the pages of Thor. So to follow along, in “Thor Annual” #7 (from September 1978);, and Thor (Vol. 1 ) #283-291 (from May 1979-September 1980). Maybe a more familiar god will help these Eternals come out of their prickly shells.
