Back in the winter of 1984 Akira Toriyama began serializing what would become his longest lasting and most enduring comic series. That series was called Dragonball, and in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine it would go on to run for 519 chapters, leaving all manner of animated series, toys, clothing, movies and spin-offs in it’s wake. Originally inspired by classical Chinese literature, Toriyama focused his tale on Son Goku, a child martial artist who, having grown up completely cut off from the world, sets off on an the adventure of a lifetime. The early volumes of Dragonball are laugh out loud funny, with humor ranging from potty to pun, to blue and back. Discover the secrets of The Great Dragon! Discover Puff-Puff and Pat-Pat! Everything discussed in today’s episode is contained in the Dragonball 3-in-1 collection available from Viz Manga. Get ready for a spoiler rich conversation!
