The benevolent Tharg and the good droids over at Rebellion/2000AD have bestowed upon us (and therefore you) an exclusive look at the cover for the second collection of D’Israeli and Edginton’s “Scarlet Traces”. The series is described thusly:

The brand new series of “Scarlet Traces” continues the story of H.G. Wells’ classic SF “The War Of The Worlds”, taking the story back to Mars . . .

Thanks to the technology left behind by the Martians and salvaged by the survivors, the British Empire has become a dominating world power once again, and has taken the fight back to the Martians! But an aging Robert Autumn knows there is more to this war than the propaganda suggests. He sends journalist Charlotte Hemmingway undercover to Mars in order to discover the truth. What she discovers there is truly earth-shattering . . .

If that hasn’t sold you on the series yet, then try and remain undecided after seeing this cover for Volume 2 coming in October:

Between this volume and the previous, Rebellion/2000AD brings the entire “Scarlet Traces” story back into print. Volume 1 was released in January 2017 and collected both the original miniseries from 2002 and the 2006 Edginton/D’Israeli adaptation of “War of the Worlds” from Dark Horse Comics. Volume 2 is scheduled for an October 2017 release and will contain not only “The Great Game” (also published by Dark Horse in 2006) but also the two recent ‘Cold War’ strips from “2000 AD”.
