Many years ago, in the afterword for X-Men: The Ultimate Guide, Chris Claremont described the X-Men as representing hope. It’s hopefully something you’ll experience reading our exclusive, five-page preview of next week’s “A.X.E.: Judgment Day” #5, which sees Captain America bonding with Jada, one of the countless civilians he has tried and now failed to protect, after helping awaken the Progenitor Celestial, which deemed all of life on Earth — not just mutantkind — wanting.

Thanks to Marvel for the preview, and be sure to pick up the book – either safely in a store, or digitally – next week! ‘A.X.E.: Judgment Day’ concludes with issue #6 next month, as well as an “Omega” issue on November 2. Between issues #5 and #6, we’ll also receive three one-shots written by Gillen, “A.X.E.: Avengers,” “X-Men,” and “Eternals,” which Marvel describes as essential to the rest of the series.
