Hope Larson, who has been writing “Batgirl” since the start of ‘Rebirth’ sees her run wrap up with this week’s #23. Minkyu Jung has been her artistic partner for the last few issues, following fantastic work by Chris Wildgoose and Rafael Albuquerque, and the pair are using ‘Strange Loop’ to tie up all the loose ends from Larson’s run thus far.

That run, which has featured some of the strongest Barbara as Batgirl stories since her reintroduction to the cowl in 2011, seems to mix all the elements of the modern era of Babs stories: Burnside, hopeless romantic, scarred (but not scared) by her past, and technologically savvy. Larson has the character’s voice down perfectly, and it has been such a joy to read. We’re absolutely going to miss this run, but we are thrilled to share an exclusive first look at her final issue, due out on May 23.

“STRANGE LOOP” finale! Trapped in a prison of her own mind’s making, Batgirl must act out of character in order to reenter reality. Can she put her need to survive above the needs of those she’s sworn to protect? Or is she doomed to wander the mazes of her mind for all of eternity?!

Thanks again to DC for the preview, and make sure to pick up the issue on Wednesday!
