There are few Batman artists whose Dark Knights are more easily identifiable in just one panel than Kelley Jones. From the horror-inspiration to the iconic, oversized ears of the cowl, Jones has his Batman look down to a science. It’s a look that is totally anachronistic to today’s Batman, who often looks nearly the same no matter the artist, and who has a far more uniform look. I’ve always felt that Jones’s Batman was the Batman talked about in the underworld of Gotham, more a tall tale than an accurate description.
Well, Jones is back to drawing the Dark Knight in the “Batman: Kings of Fear” miniseries alongside writer Scott Peterson, and we’re thrilled to share an exclusive first look at the fourth issue, which comes out on November 28th.

Lettered by Rob LeighScarecrow’s psych evaluation of Batman takes its darkest turn yet, as it completely dismantles the Dark Knight and keeps him from Gotham City! And a threat of immense magnitude will ravish the city unless Batman snaps out of Scarecrow’s control.
Thanks again to DC for the preview, and make sure to pick up the issue on Wednesday!
