Tomorrow, A Wave Blue World will launch “Crash & Troy,” a sci-fi action comedy by writer Jarred Luján and artist Kyler Clodfelter, that follows intergalactic mercenaries Rex “Crash” Ballard (a mutant with superstrength) and Troy 3.0 (an A.I.) as they set out to recapture a dictator they were responsible for freeing from prison. We are pleased to share an exclusive preview of the third issue, due out this fall, and some comments from the creative team:

Crash & Troy infiltrate Wexia-2 in order to recapture Jongil and locate their Weapons of Super-Massive Destruction. But first, they’ll have to get through Jongun, the dictator’s beefy son. Crash goes toe-to-toe with the giant, while Troy and Delphi attempt to neutralize the Blackhole Manipulator before it can destroy Wexia-1!

Luján states, “I loved writing Crash the most. Crash really is a lot of me rolled up into a fictional character (though he is in way better shape than I have ever been.) When you first meet Crash, he’s isolated and selfish, he responds to everything with anger. That was me at a younger age and I think being able to write Crash as he goes through some difficult times helped me reflect on that time, as well.”

Kyler Clodfelter adds, “I feel like I relate to Crash way more than almost any character I’ve ever helped create, because growing up, I had a lot of anger problems that took a lot of work to overcome. And I suppose that yeah, I’m getting really personal here, but that’s why I put my all into each and every page. None of that is to say I didn’t connect with Troy on an entirely different level though! His comedic timing is what keeps this book so light-hearted and fun. That was something I know the entire team, and I do mean everyone, wanted this book to be.”

Thanks to A Wave Blue World for the preview, and be sure to preorder a copy ahead of the comic’s release on October 12! In the meantime, be sure to pick up the first issue tomorrow, and the second when it releases September 21.
