We’ve been following the story of “Debris” for a while now, eagerly anticipating its release. From the first image Wiebe teased on Twitter to the recent colored piece by Owen Gieni, we want to see more of “Debris” and we want it now. Apparently birthed from Wiebe seeing a commission Rossmo did at a con involving a female warrior and a dead mechanical dragon, “Debris” has always sounded like a pretty kick-ass post-apocalyptic concept, like Road Warrior meets Reign of Fire or something.

I guess it is a good thing, then, that along with the solicitation for the first issue in July in Image’s July solicits, we get this brand new preview that has been running in the back of Image comics to share with you! You may have seen it in your recent copy of “Peter Panzerfaust”, but in case you haven’t the issue shows off Rossmo’s cleaner artwork paired with Gieni’s bright and sharp coloring. It looks like a comic from a completely different artist, and as much as we love Wiebe and Rossmo’s collaboration in “Green Wake”, it’s exciting to see Rossmo brancing out like this.

The solicit information is as follows:

In the far future, humanity has doomed planet earth to rot and decay, covering her surface with garbage.  Now, ancient spirits called the Colossals rise from the debris and attack the remaining survivors, forcing the human race to the brink of extinction. One warrior woman, Maya, sets out to find the last source of pure water to save the world before the monsters bring it all to an end.

Shut up and take my money!

Check behind the cut for two beautiful splash pages from the team of Rossmo and Gieni.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
