Z2 Comics is developing a niche for itself in the cross section of music and comics. Their line continues to diversify to different genres and artists, the most recent of which is metalcore band Ice Nine Kills. “Inked in Blood” is a tie-in graphic novel to their 2018 record, The Silver Scream.

Here is what writer Steve Foxe had to say about the project:

“The real joy of “Inked in Blood” was getting to blend INK’s grand overarching story with a big red pool of slasher inspirations for a contemporary, kids-gloves-off horror thrill ride. Spencer and the rest of the band gave us a lot of flexibility to craft an original tale within the larger mythos they’re building, one that looks at fandom and media sensationalism, while also paying tribute to their songs and the movies that helped inspire them. And doing it with Andres and Phil was a breeze, since they bring so much of their own horror experience to the table.”

Artist Philip Sevy added:

“I became a horror fan from ‘90s slashers (give me Scream and Urban Legend EVERY day and I’m happy) and my love of the genre propelled me backwards through the classics and through to today’s best (and worst) horror. So the chance to tap into that for this book was a dream come true. Steve’s script was a blast to draw and the perfect story and aesthetic for any and all INK fans. I think everyone who picks up the book will love it!”

We are thrilled to share an exclusive preview of the book, showcasing some of Sevy’s pages. You can order the book here, including a deluxe edition with this limited edition slipcover and silver vinyl double record.

Tying in with the events of Ice Nine Kill’s next cinematic album, ‘The Silver Scream,’ ‘Inked in Blood’ follows a bullied teen super-fan who’s convinced that her favorite frontman could never have committed the grotesque crimes for which he’s now standing trial. But when a well-intentioned show of support backfires, this super-fan finds herself locked in a life-or-death battle against a copycat killer whose depravity makes your favorite slasher films seem tame by comparison.

Get your icepicks handy, INK fans—it’s going to be a bloodbath!
