We’ve been wondering about this title for quite some time, but now we finally have some new information on Skybound’s second book: Thief of Thieves.

Thief of Thieves will be a new ongoing from Robert Kirkman starring a character named Conrad Paulson, described as “an aging international super-thief known in the criminal underworld.” Conrad will decide to retire in the middle of a job – and this will lead to more problems than he counts on.

The trick of the book will be that instead of writing it himself, Kirkman has tapped various writers to tell an ongoing story that he has designed. Based on what he experienced with the Walking Dead TV show, Kirkman says in the USA Today interview, “Having worked on the Walking Dead TV show, I’ve really fallen in love with the way that TV shows are written, where a bunch of people get together and they plot stuff and people split off into their own little splinter groups and write episodes. I think that’s a really neat way to tell stories and something that could be utilized in comics more often.”

The first arc will be written by Nick Spencer and illustrated by Shawn Martinbrough, with future writers to be named in the future. The series will not tie into any of Kirkman’s other work for Image but will instead be, like Super Dinosaur, a stand alone series. The first arc will also act as a pilot, and every issue will focus on a different person in Conrad’s life, with the first issue introducing readers to Cecilia, Conrad’s right-hand woman.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
