Blackest Night is almost over, and The Flash: Rebirth finally ended. You know what that means, don’t you? It’s time for Barry Allen and the Flash family to make their triumphant return to the DCU with an on-going series, penned by Geoff Johns and artistically rendered by the great Francis Manapul. The duo, having just finished a fantastic run in Adventure Comics with Superboy, are all set and ready to release issue one, and to help hype it DC has not only been publishing previews of the first issue, but will also be publishing a Secret Files and Origins issue to act as an additional prelude to the series.
So take a look at a nice preview of the book over at DCU’s The Source blog, or for more information see after the jump.

Flash Facts! In the aftermath of BLACKEST NIGHT and THE FLASH: REBIRTH comes the beginning of a new era for Barry Allen and the deadly Rogues! As Barry readjusts to life again, strange happenings explode across Central City that will lead to one of the most bizarre murder mysteries Barry will ever face in the upcoming THE FLASH #1! Plus, don’t miss Wally West, Kid Flash, Gorilla Grodd and a cold case that will send The Flash down a path unlike any other. Run — don’t walk — to pick it up!
This has been done before by Johns with his Green Lantern title, and it will mainly serve to catch new readers up with the main players as well as create a transition between the end of Rebirth and the start of the main series (for example, in the Green Lantern issue it showed Hal and Kyle bonding as friends and not enemies). For fans of the Flash, I’d imagine this will act as a nice refresher course of some of the bigger villains that weren’t a part of Blackest Night: Flash or Rebirt (like Doctor Alchemy, who I imagine will be making a bigger return in the series), and for newcomers it’s the perfect jumping on point if you skipped out on Rebirth for whatever reason.
The book comes out next week, March 31st, and will retail for $3.99 for 40 whopping pages of Francis Manapul beauty and various pin-ups, such as Scott Kolins doing Captain Cold, which you can see on DC’s blog right now!
