“Gumballs” is an autobiographical comic by Erin Nations, which features lots of short stories of various styles in each installment. From personal ads (my personal favorite segment) to interactions drawn from Nations’s dealings with customers, the book feels as idiosyncratic and personal as any hand copied indie comic or zine, which makes it all the more amazing that it is published by Top Shelf/IDW. We are thrilled to share an exclusive look at the fourth installment, due in stores on December 13.
Also, in case you missed it, our own Kate Kosturski did a great interview with Nations earlier this autumn – check it out here.
Written, illustrated, colored, and lettered by Erin NationsIn the jam-packed fourth installment of Gumballs: Erin and his fellow triplets get spooked by a haunted board game! Tobias’ dreams come true as he finally holds his crush’s hand… accidentally. And modern-day Erin battles the anxiety that comes with using public restrooms and making doctor appointments as a trans man. Also featuring: more awkward personal ads, more tales from the day-job trenches with disgruntled grocery shoppers, and a visual diary inside a vintage trailer at a quirky, bohemian retreat!
Thanks to IDW/Top Shelf for the preview, and make sure to pick up the issue on Wednesday!
