We’re fully into November now, leaving spooky season behind us and getting set for the end of the year holidays. But – just hear me out – what if we could make some other holidays spooky? Well, Archie’s “Happy Horrordays” is doing exactly that, bringing some of the ghouls of Halloween to the Christmas season. Today, we’ve got an exclusive first look at a story that reunites the “Jughead: The Hunger” creative team of Frank Tieri and Joe Eisma. We’ve got three unlettered pages of Eisma’s lineart to share, and we can’t wait for you to see it.

Here is what Tieri and Eisma had to say about returning to their lyncanthropic series:

Frank Tieri:

“When [Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial] Jamie Rotante approached me about doing something with Krampus for this anthology, I knew it was a great opportunity to get the JUGHEAD: THE HUNGER band back together again. I mean, what better way to ring in the holidays than with Jugwolf and Krampus decking the halls with each other? So come join me, Joe, Matt, Jack, Vincent, Jamie, and the JTH gang for ‘‘Twas the Night Before the Hunger’ and find out who’s gonna be naughty, who’s gonna be nice, and who’s gonna be lunch!”

Joe Eisma:

“I can’t say enough how joyous it was to return to Archie and to the characters of JUGHEAD: THE HUNGER! It really feels like coming home. Readers are in for a treat with the awesome signature Tieri-written banter between our cast and the horrific (and this time holiday-themed!) violence they come to expect with this universe. I can’t wait for everyone to read our tale, and I’d like to say thank you so much to the team at Archie and to Jugwolf fans for continuing to support our work with these characters!”

Written by Frank Tieri, Joanne Starer, and Joe Corallo
Illustrated by Joe Eisma, Butch Mapa, and Patrick Piazzalunga
Colored by Matt Herms
Lettered by Jack Morelli

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even a… werewolf?! The holidays look a little different in Riverdale this year—Santa’s nowhere in sight but Krampus is on the rampage! Who can take him down? Why only someone who can meet his match, and that someone’s best friend/monster hunter. That’s right, WereJug returns to do battle with the horned and hoofed holiday beast with Betty Cooper in his corner! Then, we dive into the true story of the Icelandic yule cat, Jólakötturinn, and her master—Sheila Wu?! Finally, Reggie meets a nice girl that he takes to the holiday dance—but things aren’t as they seem when she systematically dismantles Reggie’s life! The holidays are horrifying in this special horror anthology that reunites the team of Jughead: the Hunger!

Thanks to Archie for the preview, and make sure to check out the issue on December 14!
