Could we be any more hyperbolic with that headline? Honestly.

But then again, when looking at the following preview for “Hawkeye” #11 (originally posted on Matt Fraction’s tumblr), it’s probably not too far off. The book has never failed to get a positive review from us, standing above and beyond Marvel’s general content as a book with a passionate beating heart and beautiful and inspired artwork. This month’s issue, which puts the spotlight on fan favorite Pizza Dog in a story entitled ‘Pizza is My Business’, already features Saul Bass inspired titles and a Chris Ware-eye for detail. What’s not to love?

Take a look:

If there was any doubt in the brilliance of this book at any point in your mind, I’d point to the first and third pages here, featuring the same center scene with the middle panel moved slightly to the right, offering up different detail per instance based on the book’s dog-vision narrator.

Also: Pizza pup!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
